- Bloom is a natural, powdery white film that can form on the surface of beeswax candles. It occurs when the oils in the beeswax rise to the surface of the wax. It's completely harmless and is seen by candle makers as a sign that the beewax is pure. If you would like to remove it, simply wipe it away with a cloth or use a hair dryer on a low setting to warm surface of your candle—just be careful not to melt the wax.
